Suggestions based by location: St Mary's South

Here are the suggested ideas for St Mary's South:

A Soft/Indoor Play Area is needed

Could include:

Laser tag, indoor crazy golf, escape rooms, air hockey, pool tables etc


Bistro bar or cafe

More cafes with parking and pram/disable friendly.

Cafe by river where you can sit and have a coffee or meal.

Cafe open in the evening.


Bouldering and climbing wall


Clean up and develop town centre

We need a town theme to attract visitors - why come here? People travel for hobbies & interests.

Reuse or repurpose empty buildings - the community should have more say when buildings are left to rot.

Renovate those looking tired.

A pleasant, safe shopping, area in the centre of town.

A pleasant, eating area in the centre of town.

A pleasant, walking area in the centre of town.

More bins and smoking bins at hot spots.


Craft centre and/or gallery

A central place for Perthshire Artisans to showcase their work - e.g. an extension of the Nest, but on a commercial basis


Local Cinema

We do have Strathmore Screen once a month at the Town Hall but there were comments that we need a regular cinema.

Dundee cinemas accessible by public transport hence may reduce need/viability.


Make more of heritage

Keathbank Mill Museum was popular.

Need more youth social areas

A safe, affordable space for youth.

Lasertag, Ice skating Paint-balling.


Sports & Activities Centre

A hub with the following activities:

Indoor:

  • Soft play
  • Children's parties
  • Bowling
  • Gym for younger people

Outdoor

  • Padel tennis
  • Running/athletics track
  • MUGA at Rattray Primary school
