The next meeting of our session is on Wednesday 7th October @ 10am from Rodger Illsley with his talk entitled ‘Wrighting Wrongs’. Rodger has written a book about Frances Wright - The Story of a Dundee Dynasty, which explores the life & family of the pioneering social reformer, Frances Wright. Born in Dundee in 1795, Wright was a trailblazer who became an early advocate for the abolition of slavery, gender equality & universal education in both the US & UK.
The object of the Club is to promote social contact and wellbeing, to encourage interest and offer the opportunity for companionship among members. In addition to the regular speaker meetings, we have three small sub-groups who have interests, namely Books, Gardening and Knitting.
We meet locally and regularly from September to June on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 10.00am for tea/coffee followed by the meeting at 10.30am when we are entertained by a speaker at each meeting on a wide range of subjects. We also meet informally for coffee on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10.30am.
