Details
Learn how to sew a practical, heat-resistant oven mitt using reclaimed and donated fabrics.
Tutor: Sheila Roussel for Nest Creative Spaces
Get creative while making something genuinely useful in this relaxed, welcoming workshop. In sew a practical oven mitt, you’ll learn how to sew a practical, heat-resistant oven mitt using reclaimed and donated fabrics, giving quality materials a second life and keeping them out of landfill.
This session is suitable for beginners and those with some sewing experience of using a sewing machine. You’ll be guided step by step through cutting, layering and stitching your mitt, with plenty of time to choose fabrics that reflect your own style. All tools and materials are provided, and there’s no pressure to rush — the focus is on enjoying the process as much as the finished item.
Alongside learning a new skill, this workshop is a lovely opportunity to connect with others, slow down, and take part in a more sustainable way of making. You’ll leave with a handmade oven mitt, new confidence in sewing, and the satisfaction of creating something useful while reducing waste.
Perfect for anyone who enjoys crafting, wants to try sewing, or is keen to make eco-friendly choices in everyday life.
Light refreshments included.
