Discover Blairgowrie support from MSPs
Local MSP Press Releases about this website and advert
Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, has called on fellow parliamentarians to give their backing to the new “Discover Blairgowrie” marketing campaign.
A motion lodged in the Scottish Parliament has attracted cross-party support and has been signed by a 20 MSPs thus far.
The Discover Blairgowrie advert will air tonight on STV (Wednesday 25th March) at 7:28pm and has been funded by the Blairgowrie & Rattray Community (businesses, organisations and individuals) who have pledged over £4,000 for the advert. The aim of the website and marketing campaign is to promote the area to domestic day trippers and tourists.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“As convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Tourism Committee I know only too well the importance of easily accessible information in attracting tourists to a particular area.
“The ‘Discover Blairgowrie’ website will help provide a one-stop information shop for tourists and also help residents’ access details about the latest community news and events.
“Blairgowrie has a huge amount to offer and its staging of the Junior Ryder Cup last year showed how capable the area is of hosting big events.
“I would encourage other Perthshire communities to look at the example set by Blairgowrie businesses and organisations who have worked together to market the town to the rest of Scotland and the UK.”
